CFS Goes The Extra Mile For Sport Relief!
With Sport Relief fast approaching, volunteers from The Co-operative Financial Services (CFS) are rising to the challenge and giving up their Friday night (19 March) to help staff the Sport Relief 2010 official donation line!
At its Miller Street (Manchester) and Leek contact centres, a team of more than 300 volunteers from across CFS will help create an incredible atmosphere on the evening, joining in the fun with fancy-dress and taking the all important donation calls throughout the charity's marathon night of TV fundraising.
Since its launch in 2002, more than 1.25 million people have taken part in Sport Relief, helping raise over £75 million. This year, when Gary Lineker, Davina McCall, Richard Hammond and others, host a celebrity filled night of Sport Relief TV on BBC One, CFS hopes to help the charity raise even more money by taking the vital donation calls.
Tim Franklin, chief operating officer of The Co-operative Financial Services (CFS), said: “As one of the UK's biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives.
“I'm really proud that our exceptional team here at CFS are a part of Sport Relief and helping to make a positive difference to peoples' lives. Every pound raised helps people living unimaginably tough lives, both at home and across the world's poorest countries. Managing these calls is crucial to making sure this money reaches those who need it most.”
Sport Relief, with its unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to rise to the challenge - from David Walliams' astonishing swim across the English Channel to Eddie Izzard completing 43 marathons in 51 days around the UK last year - aims to raise even more than the amazing £28 million donated by the nation during 2008's appeal.
This year's Sport Relief weekend is held between Friday 19 March and Sunday 21 March 2010.
