The Co-operative Group is at cutting edge of environmental sustainability
The Co-operative Group has picked up the Environmental Sustainability Award at this year’s IGD Food Industry Awards.
Industry think-tank, IGD, is made up of food and grocery experts and the awards recognise the achievements from across the food industry.
Beating off stiff competition from companies, including Unilever and Arla Foods, The Co-operative Group was praised by the judges for its cutting-edge, wide-reaching environmental sustainability programme.
As part of The Co-operative’s ground-breaking Ethical Plan, The Co-operative Food has a four-fold approach to conserving biodiversity - sourcing sustainable products, careful land management, initiating community biodiversity projects and campaigning for legislation to support nature conservation.
