The Co-operative invests £550,000 to relocate Darfield Food store

July 23, 2013

Youngsters from Darfield Cricket Club Juniors will take on star status when they perform the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially launch Darfield’s new £550,000 Co-operative Food store on Thursday 25 July. The children will receive a donation of £200 towards club funds.

The Co-operative Food has relocated its stores on Snape Hill Road and 166 Barnsley Road, to the more modern, spacious premises on the former site of the Longbow Pub, on Barnsley Road. All 24 members of staff from the old stores will transfer across to the new site.

The store has been designed around an appreciation of good food, wine and modern cuisine. Alongside an increased range of products from The Co-operative’s popular Truly Irresistible line, there will be a focus on fresh and chilled produce. Shoppers will also be able to enjoy selecting a bottle of wine, from the improved range of fine wines, to accompany their meals.

Karen Frost, Manager of The Co-operative Food store said: “Darfield residents are passionate about their food and our new-look Co-operative Food store will certainly reflect this. The store will be packed with modern and interesting meal ideas that, while quick, easy and great value, are sure to impress.”

The store will be open seven days a week from 6:00am until 11:00pm. For added convenience there will also be a 32 space car park and a Co-operative Bank cash machine.
