Swansea star and primary pupils kick off new look Killay Co-operative food store
Improvements are in-store at The Co-operative food store in Killay which re-opened this week (Thursday, 16 October) following a £425,000 investment to transform the store and create a new shopping experience for the community.
Sharing celebrity status on the day, and helping Swansea City defender Neil Taylor to cut the ribbon and declare the new-look food store open for the community, were children from Dunvant Primary school.
The store, in the Precinct, has been redefined to include an extended in-store bakery range, and a focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials, it has been refurbished throughout with new flooring, refrigeration and fittings.
The store is also pioneering a new role, known as a Community Pioneer, where a member of the food store team, Jo Clement, also works to foster involvement in community activities, from local fundraising initiatives to helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs.
Lowri Davies, Manager of The Co-operative food store in Killay – The Precinct, said:
“We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in our Killay store, and delighted that we have a fantastic new-look food store with which to serve the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team.
“The Co-operative is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers can find out what is going on locally, and learn about how The Co-operative can benefit local groups.
“With the combination of our redefined store, innovations in our own-brand ‘Loved by us’ range, and The Co-operative’s commitment to lowering prices on hundreds of everyday essentials under its ‘Fair and square’ prices banner, I am confident, we will provide the community with everything needed to pick-up delicious food conveniently and create inspirational and tasty meals at home.”
There are offers and promotions in and around the store to marks its re-launch.
