October 02, 2015

Stories of overcoming adversity, extreme courage and inspirational people inspiring others, were the order of the night at the National Diversity Awards, where Funeralcare were this year a gold sponsor.

Echoing the values of The Co-operative Funeralcare, the awards honoured charities, role models and community heroes, showcasing their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. The awards were held at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral on Friday 18th September.

Geanie Tuvnor, a Funeral Director in St Helens, was one of the Funeralcare colleagues attending the event. Speaking of the evening, she said:

“It was lovely and an honour. There were some heart-wrenching and humbling stories. One woman who received an award was overwhelmed and I just wanted to hug her. It was also great to attend with my fellow Funeralcare colleagues. We had a wonderful time.”

Presenting the award for Community Organisation Award Multi-Strand, David Collingwood, Operations Director North for The Co-operative Funeralcare said:

“What an inspiring evening. It has been an honour for Funeralcare to sponsor this event which is so focused on recognising the organisations and individuals who are the true heroes of our communities.”
