Community marks Co-op's return to Rochdale with Funeralcare
The Co-operative Funeralcare and members of the local community joined together yesterday (Tuesday 25th August) to mark a return to the Co-operative movement’s roots in Rochdale with the official opening of a new funeral home in the town.

The new Funeralcare home features a reception room, family arrangement room and a large service chapel which offers a welcoming and calming environment for the bereaved and members of the local Rochdale community. The chapel was officially opened with a service of dedication at the event.
David Collingwood, operations director North for the Co-operative Funeralcare said:
“Rochdale is the heart of the Co-operative movement and we are delighted that Funeralcare has finally been able to open this funeral home in the town. Our funeral homes are already at the heart of over 900 communities across the UK so it’s only right for us to be here in the town where the Co-operative movement began.”

Speaking of the opening he said: “As we embark on providing high quality care locally to the bereaved, it’s great to see that so many members of the Rochdale community turned out to join us in marking this milestone.”
Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Surinder Biant, who planted a 'remembrance rose' at the opening, said:
"I'm very impressed with this new funeral home in the heart of Rochdale. I'm so pleased to be here on such a momentous occasion. The opening was very moving and professionally done. I hope Funeralcare can be 'Pioneers' in arranging funerals for such a diverse community."
