We're having a party...Not a wake: One of a kind Halloween themed Co-op funeral
The Co-operative Funeralcare will tomorrow (Wednesday 15th July) be conducting one of its most unique funerals to date.
Full time mum Lorna Johnson sadly passed away aged just 56 and whilst her family are devastated to see her go, they are adamant that her final send-off won’t be a sad occasion, but instead will be a chance to celebrate her life exactly the way she would have wanted, in fancy dress.
Lorna’s family has opted for her funeral to be a chance to acknowledge all of the things that she loved and as a white witch (good witchcraft) and sci-fi fanatic they have chosen to say their final goodbyes in Halloween and Star Wars fancy dress.
Lorna’s son, Neil Johnson said:
“My mum was a truly wonderful and unique person. Everybody loved her and we want to acknowledge everything that she loved by celebrating her life at her funeral. Mum loved Halloween so we’re wearing witch hats and Halloween costume to pay tribute to her life. She was the life and soul and so we’re going to have a party tomorrow not a wake. That’s the way our family is.”
Funeral Director, Brett Houghton of the Co-operative Funeralcare who will be leading the funeral service dressed as Star Wars’ Darth Vader said:
“We personalise every detail of a funeral as much as possible to make it unique to that individual. Lorna’s family wanted today to be a celebration of her life and we’re confident that her personality will shine through.”
