Claire Davies appointed Group Secretary at The Co-operative Group
Claire Davies has been appointed new Group Secretary at The Co-operative Group following the retirement of Moira Lees this month.
Claire is a solicitor and has more than 27 years’ experience, mainly in the financial services sector, having held a variety of legal, compliance and company secretarial roles at Ernst & Young, The Woolwich, Legal & General and Lloyds Banking Group.
She joined Lloyds Bank in 2009 as Deputy Company Secretary, becoming the Company Secretary in 2012. During her time at Lloyds she worked closely with the Chairman supporting the Board on a variety of governance-related matters during a period of exceptional industry and regulatory change.
Group General Counsel Alistair Asher said: “I’m delighted to welcome Claire to the Group. I know she will be a great addition to the senior team, especially as we work our way through the crucial Governance Review that the Board is undertaking. “
Claire will take up her new role in early March, reporting directly to Group Chair Ursula Lidbetter.
In the meantime Harry Baines, who until the end of 2012 was Claire’s predecessor at Lloyds Banking Group,
will be acting Group Secretary.
