September 10, 2010

Hearing loss charity RNID and The Co-operative are celebrating today after scooping the prestigious Corporate National Partnership of the Year award at the Charity Times Awards 2010.

David Membrey, Jackie Ballard, Anne Edwards and Ruby Wax.Beating charity heavyweights like Macmillan, NSPCC and The Prince’s Trust, RNID and The Co-operative swooped in to claim the top prize. The award was given to the partners following the success of their Charity of the Year Partnership last year that saw The Co-operative raise a staggering £3.7million for RNID.

RNID was The Co-operative Charity of the Year for 2009. The funds raised went towards RNID’s Hear to Help Project, which offers support and guidance to hearing aid users in their local communities.  Thanks to The Co-operative, over 20 new Hear to Help Projects are being launched this year, which will benefit over 20,000 people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Group Chief Executive of The Co-operative Group and Vice President of RNID, Peter Marks, said: “This is fantastic news and a well-deserved win for what has been our best charity partnership to date. Our success at these awards was due to the efforts of a great team from both The Co-operative and RNID, and I want to thank everyone who has helped make this partnership such a success.”

Chief Executive of RNID, Jackie Ballard, said: “This is a great achievement for both RNID and The Co-operative. This partnership was not just about raising a substantial amount of money for RNID, but also about raising awareness of the work we do, and involving staff and volunteers from both organisations. I’m delighted that our hard work has been recognised.”
