The Co-operative Group donates £50,000 to Haiti earthquake appeal

To make a donation you can use the DEC's online donation facilityThe Co-operative Group is donating £50,000 to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Appeal for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

In addition, collection boxes will be available in all Co-operative Food stores and in the Group’s Travel, Pharmacy and Bank branches across the UK to enable customers to donate to the appeal.

Meanwhile, opportunities to offer more long-term support to help co-operatives in Haiti re-build will be explored by the Group’s Social Goals team.

Peter Marks, Chief Executive of The Co-operative Group, said: ”The levels of devastation caused by this earthquake are almost impossible for us to imagine. We hope that our donation will go some small way to help alleviate the suffering.

“I am sure that many of our members and staff will also wish to make their own personal donation to this terrible disaster.”
