The Co-operative teams up with neighbours Lifeshare

June 11, 2010

The Co-operative Group, which will shortly commence building its new head office in Manchester, today (11 June) announced a partnership with its neighbours Lifeshare, the voluntary organisation for the young homeless.

Throughout the two year project to construct the new 16 storey building the Co-operative will work with Lifeshare which is based in Dantzic Street next to the site.

As well as encouraging staff to raise money for Lifeshare, The Co-operative will also provide volunteers for projects like the successful Breakfast Club and give professional support such as IT and HR.

Amanda Jones, Head of Business Change and Transformation at The Co-operative, said:”Our new headquarters represents the first exciting phase in the redevelopment and regeneration of the area and we want our neighbours to feel part of it.

“Lifeshare does so much important work for homeless young people in the city so when we were looking for a charity partner for the project it was the obvious choice and one I am sure our staff will enthusiastically support.

Judith Vickers, Team Leader at Lifeshare said:” We are delighted that The Co-operative has asked us to play a part in this important development for the Group and the city as a whole.

“Having the support of such a large organisation is great from a small charity’s point of view and I am sure we will be good neighbours.”
