New Scottish acquisitions manager at The Co-operative

July 28, 2014

The Co-operative Food has appointed Raymond Gormley as Regional Acquisitions Manager for Scotland.
Raymond, who lives in Houston, Renfrewshire, with his wife Susan and two teenage daughters, has 25 years’ experience in the property sector.  Most recently he ran his own property business, identifying potential new stores for clients including The Co-operative. Raymond will acquire sites for new food stores alongside opportunities for store relocations.
He will be working in the Scottish team alongside Ian Mason.
Stuart Hookins, Director of Portfolio and Development, said:

“Having worked alongside us for a number of years, Raymond is familiar with the kind of stores that suit our portfolio, so will be able to hit the ground running.  His experience and knowledge of the retail property sector in Scotland will be integral to growing the food business in this country, where we have a great portfolio already, where we have launched many successful new stores over the past few years and where there are many more opportunities to bring the Co-operative brand to new customers and members."

The Co-operative has announced plans to open over 100 new stores in 2014, on both a leasehold and freehold basis, between 2,000sq ft and 4,000sq ft net sales area, particularly in high street and local community locations.
