Look no further, as this week we launch 11 new activities for Key Stage 2 and 3, plus a super interactive game, which will encourage your pupils to be ethical shoppers and consider consumer choices.
Your class will be hunting out Fairtade bananas and checking that their shampoo hasn’t been tested on animals in no time!
The first activity and accompanying PowerPoint introduce your class to four ethical logos that are found on common household items.
Once the class has got to grips with what the logos tell us about products, they can move on to debate issues, plan a healthy lunch, design a sandwich pack, and act out the supply chain.
There’s a document for teachers too so you are clued up about the logos and where the activities sit within the curriculum.
The ethical logo activities will get pupils thinking about influences in society and the choices they make in an engaging way. Activities are aimed at different learning styles and include acting, persuasive writing and research.
Plus students will be encouraged to play Supermarket Quest - a fun game that can be played in the classroom, ICT suite or at home. Race down the aisle to match the shopping to the right ethical logo. Who can get the most matches in the time? There’s a leaderboard too, so the whole class can play against each other!
All the resources are aimed at KS2 and 3 with additional differentiation ideas and support.
Older KS4 students can ‘Create a Campaign’ for their favourite ethical organisation!

Give your pupils something to be thinking about over the summer holidays – everything is ready and waiting in the ‘Teaching resources’ area when you register or log in and find the full range of resources in the primary and secondary sections.
All these great activities have been designed in partnership with Cruelty Free International, the Fairtrade Foundation, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) UK ® and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
