In action: Strathaven Academy

15/01/2014 by Green Schools

Strathaven Academy in South Lanarkshire became a regional winner of our ‘What’s YOUR Green Schools Revolution’ competition in 2013. We asked some of the students at the school what the programme means to them, and thought we’d share their comments with you!

David said:

“Green Schools Revolution opened my eyes to the environment around me. It has formed a backbone for our eco activities over the year; we’ve celebrated Earth Hour and educated first years about the environment. We’ve planted seeds and grown trees, looked at Fairtrade ideas and applied this knowledge to our studies.

Best of all, the Conservation Club has been able to present ideas to the whole school through assemblies that we’ve planned and prepared. We’ve even featured in our local press to share our work with the community – it’s been brilliant!”

Another student, John, said:

“Green Schools Revolution has enabled me to join a club and take part in lots of eco activities. The website has given us plenty of inspiration for projects around school and we’ve been able to take part in lots of competitions too. It’s been a great influence on our Conservation Club and sparked many of our ideas.”

We’re really pleased that Green Schools Revolution has had such a positive impact. Keep up the good work Strathaven!
