Q Can I attend the AGM?
If you’ve met the spend threshold for 2015 you can attend as a member (meeting details can be found here).
Q How long will the AGM last and what will the agenda look like?
We expect the AGM to last up to 4 hours, starting at 10.30am on Saturday 21 May 2016. You can come along from 8.30am if you’d like, and enjoy some refreshments while you catch up with Co-op colleagues and other members. There’s more on the plan for the day here.
Q. I want to attend the AGM what information do I need to take on the day?
You’ll need your voting pack and your membership card and a valid form of ID (eg, a driving licence or bank card).
Q I’ve lost my membership card do I need it to attend the AGM?
If you’ve not got your membership card you’ll need to bring along photo identification (eg, your driving licence or passport)
Q What happens at registration?
You’ll be asked to provide your membership card and identification. Co-op colleagues will check that you’re eligible to attend the meeting and, if so, you’ll be provided with a wristband and a voting terminal so you can enter the meeting.
Q A friend has nominated their vote to me, what do I have to do?
You’ll need to attend the AGM in person and bring a valid form of ID (eg, your driving licence or bank card). You will be able to vote on behalf of you friend using the voting terminal you’ll be provided with when you register at the meeting.
Q I’ve been nominated by a friend to vote for them and want to vote myself. Can I cast multiple votes?
The voting terminal which you will receive at registration will recognise that you have been appointed as a voting representative by another member and that you are eligible to vote yourself.
Q. My partner is a member, but isn’t eligible to vote, so can they attend the AGM with me?
They’ll be able to come to the venue with you and visit the Co-op marketplace outside the meeting hall, where they can watch a live stream of the meeting, but they won’t be able to enter the meeting.
Q What is the voting mechanism at the AGM, i.e. show of hands or electronic?
It’s electronic. You’ll be given full details when you register at the AGM.
Q If I’ve voted on the AGM motions in advance of the meeting, can I still attend the AGM?
Yes, and your voting terminal will allow you to override a pre-submitted vote on motions if you wish.
Q Will refreshments be provided at the AGM?
Yes, there’ll be refreshments, including lunch - a great opportunity to try some of our new products.
Q I have a food allergy, will that be catered for?
Please advise the caterers of this on the day.
Q I am disabled, what facilities will be available for me?
Manchester Central is designed for maximum accessibility. The space is on the ground floor/street level and can be easily accessed via the main entrance. The entrances are fully accessible and the foyer entrance doors are sensor-activated.
Signage uses pictorial symbols and there are contrasting graphics on the wall-to-floor glazing. Assistance dogs are welcome and there are Induction Loop facilities in the venue.
Q If I attend the AGM can I claim my parking / travel expenses?
Q I have been trading with the Co-op, but just not using my membership card – can I attend the AGM?
If you’re able to provide evidence that this trade is above the threshold, we can register you to vote. Evidence could be receipts or copies of bank account statements in your name.
Q. How many people will attend the AGM?
We won’t have a clear idea until a couple of days before, but we anticipate a good level of engagement. Some 2.4 million members are eligible to vote this year!
