Keeping you safe when you shop in our stores

Updates on our stores

Life’s slowly getting back to normal but you still need to take care when you’re out and about. We’ve made some changes to the way you shop with us so you can pick up your favourite items without worrying about safety.

Store changes

Social distancing

Social distancing

Social distancing is here to stay for the time being. We still have a one in one out policy in place and one way systems to provide greater distance between customers. Look out for the signs in store and please shop with care.

Face coverings in store

Face coverings

Face coverings are now compulsory when you visit our stores. If you’re able to do so then we’d ask you to wear one, although we realise it’s not possible for everyone.

Possible limits

Possible limits

Nothing matters more than the health and safety of you and our team members. That’s why we we’d be grateful if you’re patient when we may need to limit the number of people in our stores at one time.

Changes to your shop

Co-op store front

Helping our heroes and the vulnerable

We still have a dedicated shopping hour for our vulnerable customers, those who care for them and our brilliant NHS workers. The hour is 8am to 9am Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 11am on Sundays.

Making payments

Making payments

Contactless card payments limits have been increased to £45, making it easier and safer to buy items.

Co-op shopping bag

Helping communities shop for each other

We’ve made it easier for those staying at home to pay for and get their essentials delivered with our Community Shopping Scheme. If you’ve been instructed by the Government to stay home, you can purchase or top up our Community Shopping Card by calling 0800 029 4592. Friends, family or volunteers can use this to do your shopping in store.

Updates on our team members

Our team members have been amazing throughout this crisis and are still working to support our communities.

To support them we have:

  • Invested £3m in new protective equipment
  • Provided more hand sanitiser and gloves
  • Installed protective safety screens at till points and serving counters
  • Paid team members who are in self isolation
  • Cleaned and disinfected more often
  • Removed low priority tasks
