What you pop in your basket can make a positive change to lives around the globe. That’s why we’re proud to have been supporting Fairtrade since it launched over 29 years ago. Today, our commitment to Fairtrade is making a world of difference to communities from tea growers in Kenya to sugar producers in Belize.

We’re backing British farmers all the way so you can enjoy top-quality meat, poultry, and eggs. It’s why they take pride of place on our shelves. And by supporting local farming, we’re helping boost the economies of communities across the UK while ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.

We think British horticulture is blooming great for the freshest fruit, vegetables and flowers. And by working closely with our suppliers, we’ve so far extended the British season on over 15 different types of fruit and veg. It’s all part of our commitment to supporting local growers, as is sourcing new ranges and providing new long-term contracts.

It’s easy to take water for granted, but it’s in short supply for many around the world. For the last 12 years, we’ve been working in partnership with The One Foundation to invest in clean water, sanitation and hygiene projects. Also, as a pioneering partner of Water Unite, every bottle of water we now sell supports clean water projects and changes lives.

From fresh beef, chicken and pork to the meat in our sandwiches, chilled pies and ready meals, we make it easy for you to choose British food at its best. In fact, 100% of our fresh meat is sourced from British farming communities and we pledge to support the future of British food by working closely with farmers, growers and small local suppliers across the country.

We’re dedicated to driving improvements for working conditions and aim to be the UK's leading retailer in this vital area. To ensure this, we’ve created our ‘Sound Sourcing Code of Conduct’ which sets out the workplace and employment standards that we strenuously apply.
