  • 110g turnip
  • 250ml vegetable stock
  • 10g Co-op unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp soft brown sugar


  1. Peel and cube the turnip, put into a frying pan
  2. Pour over enough hot chicken or vegetable stock to cover
  3. Bring to the boil and cook for 20 mins, or until the turnip is tender and the stock has almost evaporated
  4. If the turnip isn’t cooked, top up with hot water and continue to boil
  5. Add the butter and a few pinches soft brown sugar
  6. Swirl the pan to mix
  7. Cook for 3-5 mins
  8. Season with black pepper
  9. Garnish with fresh thyme, if you like
