Co-op local causes
£19 million for local causes
Thanks to our members, together we've helped raise an amazing £19 million for local causes since November 2017.
We give 1% of what members spend on Co-op branded food products in our stores and selected services, as well as money raised from sales of carrier bags and Co-op scratch cards in our stores, to local projects – from improving community spaces or helping school leavers learn life skills, to simply connecting people.
So just by buying a pint of milk from one of our stores, you could help make things better in your community.
Members can sign in to see the causes their local Co-op is supporting and choose which one they want their own money to go to.
Thanks for helping us bring people together
Musical Connections, based in York, offer a range of musical activity groups and classes in the local community. They tackle social isolation and loneliness by bringing together different generations of people. The charity receieved £441.53 from Co-op's local community fund - they're using the money to connect with a local taxi service, collecting more elderly and vulnerable people who struggle to get to classes from their own homes.
The money we receive from Co-op Membership will help us collect people from their homes so they don’t miss out. It’s helping us reach as many locals as possible.Emma Tatnall, Community Involvement Officer
