A Syrah by any other name would be a Shiraz. Yep, Shiraz and Syrah are the same grape. How very confusing. However the description is in some ways helpful; a French Syrah takes very different indeed from an Aussie Shiraz. This is more along Cotes-du-Rhone lines; ripe (but not over the top) red fruits, a touch of peppery spice and a long, warm finish.
