  • 2 tbsp Co-op vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped (or 1 tsp chilli flakes)
  • ½ tsp each fenugreek, turmeric, chilli powder, curry powder, ground cumin, ground coriander
  • 2 x 400g cans Co-op chick peas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander, to garnish


  1. Put the oil in a medium saucepan over a low heat
  2. Add the onion, chilli and fenugreek, then season
  3. Cook for 5-8 mins, until the onion has softened
  4. Add all the remaining dried herbs and spices, plus ½ tsp of water, and cook for a couple of minutes, then stir in the chick peas and cook for a 5-8 mins more, stirring frequently
  5. Garnish with the coriander to serve
