Nature Neighbourhoods: Nature in your community

In Week 4 of our campaign, we turned to the experts at Nature Neighbourhoods to give us some top tips on how Co-op Members can get involved in nature projects in their communities. Images courtesy of Nature Neighbourhoods and Lincoln Greeners Mafwa Theatre.

1. Volunteer

This doesn’t have to be physical work in a green space – many organisations need support in accounting, grant applications, running meetings, creating social media posts or writing letters.

2. Donate money

This a great way to help local community organisations, but many are also social enterprises, who sell services or run cafes. Others have set up loans or crowdfunders.

3. Shout about great work

Help shout about great work a local community organisation is doing for nature. This might be through your own social media, writing a positive Google review, or sticking up a sign in your shop/house/garden.

4. Lead the charge

Community organisations are leading the charge for saving local green spaces Could you help by letter writing to local politicians, or attending council meetings to support the cause?

5. Show up

Sometimes just showing up, joining in, bringing family and friends along is the simplest way to support.
