School of Hope - terms and conditions


  1. PROMOTER: This competition is operated by Co-operative Group Food Limited, a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, Registered No 26715R with registered office at 1 Angel Square, Manchester, M60 0AG. References to “we”, “us” or “our” in these terms and conditions are references to the promoter.
  2. OPENING AND CLOSING DATES: This promotion opens on 09 November 2020 12PM and closes on 27 November 2020 5PM. Winners will be selected at random. Any entries made before the opening date or after the closing date will not be valid and will not be entered into this promotion.
  3. ELIGIBILITY: This competition is only open to under 16 years who attend the chosen schools pre-selected by the Promoter to participate in this activity (details available upon request to contact mentioned below). You must obtain parental or guardian consent to enter.
  4. HOW TO ENTER: To enter participants must complete the entry form available on the submission page on our experiential agency page here and provide full name, details of their school and a scanned version of their entry sheet which includes their design. Participants can also submit entry form via email to Entry forms must be completed and submitted within the specified opening and closing dates to be counted. Maximum of one entry per person.
  5. PRIZES: All schools that enter and provide a minimum of 15 submissions will receive a Co-op gift card. The Prize is £100 Co-op gift card for participating schools which will be awarded to participating schools where a minimum of 15 submission received. A maximum of eighteen (18) Co-op gift card to won. A maximum of one Co-op gift card per school. The Co-op gift card shall be provided to the nominated teacher of the individual school. Participants can also win a chance for their designs to be published (includes but not limited to printing into a book and an e-book hosted online) in the design book which will be available to collect in selected Co-op stores. A maximum of 45 entries will be selected at random and those entries will be published (includes but not limited to printing into a book and an e-book hosted online) and collated into a design book which will be available in selected Co-op stores (detailed below). We may substitute or change the prizes for a prize of an equivalent or greater value if circumstances beyond our control make it necessary to do so but there will be no cash alternative.   6. Gift Card: Redemption of Co-op gift card is subject to the terms and conditions printed or referred to thereon (including redemption before the expiry date, if stated). Gift cards are not exchangeable, and no cash alternative can be requested. Gift cards are provided at our discretion and we may substitute or change the gift card for a prize of an equivalent or greater value if circumstances beyond our control make it necessary to do so
  7. Usage Rights: We wish use any message, designs and photos that you contributed to the your entry. To allow us to do so (and to allow us to use the resulting images, audio, video or other recordings), we may be legally required to confirm your age and to obtain your consent (or, if relevant, your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent). We also need ensure that we own the rights in resulting images, audio, video or other recordings so that we can freely edit, copy, use and publish them without needing to contact you again. We will only use the images, audio, video or other recordings for the “Permitted Purposes” set out below. By participating in the Promotion, you confirm that: a. You are over 18 years of age (or, if relevant, you are the parent or legal guardian of a participant who is under 18 years of age or duly authorised to be provide required consent (your “Child”); b. You consent and authorise the Promoter to do any or all of the following: i. Film, record, photograph or otherwise capture your (or, if relevant, your Child’s) contribution to the Promotion including design submissions (in each case, a “Recording”); ii. Use any or all Recordings at any time in the future (and for any duration) for Co-op’s internal business purposes, and for advertising, promoting or marketing Co-op (including its group companies) or its products, services, business or activities (together the “Permitted Purposes”); iii. Publish or display any or all Recordings in or on any Co-op internal communications and national or international media (including but not limited to; TV, cinema, printed publications, online publications, posters, billboards, press releases, websites, social media and online advertising) for the Permitted Purposes (in each case a “Publication”); iv. Identify you (or, if relevant, your Child) by referring to name, message, and/or design (but not contact details) in any Recording or related Publication; and v. Store the Recordings (in physical and/or electronic form). Recordings may be stored on servers located outside of the European Economic Area; and vi. If you own (or, if relevant, your Child owns) any copyright in the Recordings, you (and, if relevant, your Child) automatically transfer all ownership of such copyright to the Promoter and agree that Co-op is under no obligation to identify you (or, if relevant, your Child) as a contributor to, or participant in, the Recordings. Accordingly, you agree to waive any “moral rights” that you (or, if relevant, your Child) may have in relation to the Recordings.
  8. WINNER SELECTION: Winners will be drawn at random within 7 days of the specified closing date.
  9. NOTIFICATION: If you win, you will be notified will be notified by telephone using the contact details provided to our experiential agency within 7 days of being selected. Participants enter the competition and will be asked to provide proof of the school their child attends to ensure they are from an eligible school. Proof will constitute of a letter on letterheaded paper addressed to the parent/child. Any participants which fail to provide satisfactory evidence of their child proof of school within 7 days will forfeit the prize and subject to clause 6 the Promotor reserve the right to select a new winner. Winning entries for each participating school(s) will be notified by telephone via the contact details provided to our experiential agency within 7 days of being selected.
  10. DECISIONS OF THE PROMOTER: If there is any dispute about the receipt of validity of any entry or any other aspect of the promotion, this will be decided by us. Our decision regarding any aspect of the promotion is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
  11. WINNER LIST: The winner’s name and respective county of residence (if known) for each Participating Store’s draw can be obtained by contacting the Co-op Customer Careline on 0800 0686 727 no earlier than 14 of days and no later than 28 days after the closing date of each Participating Store’s draw.
  12. AGREEMENT TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Entry to this promotion shall constitute your acceptance of these terms and conditions your agreement to be bound by them. These terms and conditions take effect immediately upon entry to the promotion.
  13. DISQUALIFICATION: We reserve the right to reject any entry, withhold any prize and disqualify you from the promotion if we suspect you of failing to comply with these terms and conditions or of fraud, cheating or dishonesty.
  14. NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ENTRIES NOT RECEIVED: We accept no responsibility for entries not successfully received by us, or which are delayed, due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.
  15. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ADMINISTER PROMOTION: We, other members of the Co-operative Group and 3rd party agencies acting on our behalf, may collect personal information from you in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 and other applicable or subsequent data privacy laws. Except as set out in clause 16 below, we and other members of the Co-operative Group will only use your information for the purposes of administering this promotion.
  16. USE OF PERSONAL AND OTHER INFORMATION FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES: By entering this promotion, you agree that if you win we, other members of the Co-operative Group and 3rd party agencies acting on our behalf may use your entry, name, photo or image, county of residence and any testimonial you have provided to us, for promotional purposes (including on our websites, social media, within our magazines or within promotional emails).
  17. CANCELLATION OR WITHDRAWAL OF PROMOTION: We reserve the right at our absolute discretion to withdraw or cancel this promotion without prior notice and without liability to any party if it becomes necessary to do so.
  18. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS: We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Revised terms and conditions will be available instore. It is your responsibility to keep up to date with any such changes.
  19. RELEVANT LAW: This promotion and these terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts if any dispute arises.
