At Co-op, we’re not owned by a wealthy few, we’re owned by you; our members. Which means you can shape your membership by helping us develop our products and services.

This year, Co-op Members have been working with us to design and shape how they are rewarded through their membership, by taking part in an exclusive trial using the Co-op App.

Around 55,000 members were specially chosen for the test and learn, which uses digital stamps to reward members for shopping at Co-op.

Members enjoyed being part of the trial, describing the opportunity as fun, exciting and rewarding. They felt privileged to be involved – citing the benefits of being a member-owner, having the chance to add value, make a difference, and have their say on how members are rewarded through their membership. In fact, 90% said they would be willing to get involved in something similar in the future.

We asked members who took part in the trial to share their experience with us. Here’s what they had to say:

“By engaging with these opportunities, you have a chance to be at the forefront of Co-op developments, allowing you to have input on where we go in the future. Personally, I enjoyed collecting stamps and planning meals around what was purchased.”
M Brooks, Pentre

“This is a great addition to being a member of the Co-op and has already given me added value to my membership.”
L Bulpin, Falmouth

“My Co-op, my App, my part of the action and my benefits. What’s not to like?”
Elizabeth Sefton, St Albans

“It was a great incentive, and I enjoyed being part of the trial. As member-owners we need to help shape the Co-op experience we want! I found it really interesting.”
E Meades, Broadstairs

“It’s fun to be part of a trial benefiting myself and hopefully other members in the future. It’s easy and fun with no compulsion to complete every offer.”
J Rushton, Bridge of Weir

“It’s a good idea to trial the app on regular customers who can give real feedback.”
K Lansdown, Looe

These are the great reviews, but we took all feedback – positive and negative – and are using this to evolve the experience for members.

We have learned a lot from Co-op Members, and with their support and feedback, we’re looking forward to rolling out to more members in the future.

This is just one example of where we work with our members to help shape their membership. You can make a difference in a number of ways – including by participating in Join In opportunities to help develop products and services, voting in elections and at AGMs to influence how we run the business, campaigning for change on issues that matter to you and choosing how we spend money in your community.

There are always opportunities for Co-op Members to get involved in their Co-op. Find out what’s available now by joining in on your online Membership account.
