Ingredients
- 200ml Co-op whole milk
- 4 green cardamom pods, bashed
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Pinch of ground ginger, plus extra to garnish
- 1 tbsp Co-op Fairtrade demerara sugar
- 2 Co-op 99 Blend Fairtrade tea bags
- 20g Co-op Fairtrade white chocolate, finely chopped
Method
- Fill the flask with boiling water to preheat it. Leave for 5 mins, then pour away
- Meanwhile, pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat until almost simmering. Pour into a heatproof bowl and whisk carefully with a frother wand or handheld electric whisk, until thick and foamy — or use an electric frother if you have one
- Pour into the preheated flask and seal to keep it warm
- Put the spices and sugar into the saucepan and add 300ml water. Bring to the boil and cook for 2 mins
- Take off the heat and add the tea bags. Let steep for 3 mins
- Remove the tea bags and whole spices from the pan and pour the chai into the flask. Stir to combine with the frothy milk
- If you‘re taking the chai out with you, add the extra ginger and white chocolate and stir until completely melted. If serving right away, divide between two glasses and sprinkle with the chocolate and ginger to garnish
