Butterbean and pesto pasta


Got a can of butter beans lurking in the cupboard? Add pesto and a few other basic ingredients to make this speedy dinner

  • 150g spaghetti or other pasta
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 100g reduced fat crème fraîche
  • 2tbsp green pesto
  • 400g tin butter beans
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 20g grated Parmesan
  • 20g pine nuts


  1. Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions
  2. Meanwhile, in a separate pan, heat the olive oil over a very low heat then add the crème fraîche, pesto, butter beans and nutmeg
  3. Heat gently, stirring, but don't allow it to boil
  4. Once the pasta is cooked, drain and return to the pan. Stir in the butter bean mixture to combine
  5. Serve in pasta dishes, sprinkled with the Parmesan, pine nuts and freshly ground black pepper
