Ingredients
- 400g can Co-op chick peas
- 400g bag Co-op frozen British
- garden peas
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 2 large garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 tbsp Co-op olive oil, plus extra
- to drizzle
- 1 ½ tsp ground cumin
For the chilli dippers
- 4 Co-op white pitta breads
- 1 tbsp Co-op olive oil
- ½ tsp chilli powder
Method
- Drain the chick peas into a bowl, reserving the liquid from the can
- Cook the garden peas according to the pack instructions, then drain
- Put the chick peas, lemon zest and juice, garlic, olive oil, cumin and 5 tbsp of the chick pea water into a food processor and blitz almost to a purée
- Add the garden peas and blitz again to mix
- Season to taste
- Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6
- Cut the pitta breads into shards, arrange on a baking tray, then drizzle with the oil and sprinkle with the chilli powder
- Bake for 10 mins, until golden
- Put the houmous in a bowl, drizzle with the extra oil and season with freshly ground black pepper
- Serve with the chilli dippers on the side
