  • 250g Co-op Irresistible Hereford beef mince
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 green pepper, deseeded and diced
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 2 Co-op wholemeal pitta breads
  • To serve
  • 2 tbsp pickled red cabbage
  • 2 gherkins, sliced (optional)


  1. Heat a non-stick frying pan and dry fry the mince until it’s evenly browned
  2. Add the onion, garlic, diced pepper, mustard powder, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce and stir well
  3. Add 150ml water, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 30 mins
  4. Add the diced tomato and cook for a further 10 mins
  5. Warm the pitta breads and cut them in half
  6. Divide the mince between each pitta and top with a dollop of pickled red cabbage and some gherkins, if you like
