Lentil dahl with naan bread


This gently spiced Indian dish is so satisfying and the yogurt adds a cooling contrast

  • 1 tbsp Co-op olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2cm ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 120g Co-op dried red lentils
  • 350ml vegetable stock (made with 1/2 stock cube)
  • 2 plain naan breads
  • 2 tbsp Co-op fat free
  • Greek style yogurt
  • Few sprigs coriander (optional)


  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan, then fry the onion and ginger over a medium heat for 5 mins, until soft
  2. Stir in the spices, lentils and stock
  3. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 mins, or until the lentils are soft
  4. Meanwhile, heat the naan bread according to the pack instructions
  5. Serve the dahl with the yogurt and naan, and sprinkle over the coriander, if using
