  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cut into quarters
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped, or 1 tsp dried
  • 1 tbsp Co-op plain flour


  1. Boil the potatoes in a large pan for 8-10 mins
  2. Remove from the heat and drain
  3. When cool enough to handle, grate into a bowl. Stir in the onion, chives and flour
  4. Firmly shape the mixture into 12 'tots' and shallow fry in 200ml oil for 4-5 mins, until crisp and golden
  5. Drain on kitchen towel and serve immediately
