Co-op YES Icon

YES I'm healthy

YES is the symbol we use on healthy Co-op brand products. Making it quicker and easier to make better choices.

It means the product is one of your 5 a day, or has another nutritional benefit, such as being a source of fibre, or high in protein.

We use it on food that’s recommended within the Eatwell Guide, or a prepared dish, such as a ready meal.

We’ll never display it on a product which the government recommends to consume ‘less often and in small amounts’.

It’s important to remember that everyone’s needs are different. So if your favourite product doesn’t have the YES symbol, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s unhealthy.

For example, we haven’t put the YES symbol on whole milk because the Eatwell Guide recommends lower-fat options. However, whole milk may be a better choice for children under 5.

Similarly, while our white bread is still a source of fibre, we’ve added the YES symbol to our wholemeal bread to make it easier to spot the higher-fibre option.

Like all Co-op Brand products, YES products meet our high brand sourcing standards, including our ethical and sustainability standards. You can find out more about this here.

Products with the YES symbol must meet the following criteria:

No Red Traffic Lights

Exceptions are naturally occurring nutrients, such as the fat in nuts or oily fish. All savoury products must display a green traffic light

Salt targets met

All products must meet salt reduction targets (maximum target per 100g) set out by the government

Calorie targets met

All products must meet the government’s calorie reduction targets (maximum guideline for calories per portion)

Non HFSS (not high in fat, salt or sugar)*

*According to the Department of Health 20024/5 Nutrient Profiling Model (with some exceptions e.g. plain dried fruit and plain nuts with no added ingredients)
