Legal expenses cover

If you car is involved in an accident where the other person is responsible, our optional legal expenses insurance will cover the cost of:

  • working out the value of your uninsured losses.

  • negotiating with the other side responsible for the accident.

  • starting legal proceedings if necessary.

Your legal expenses claim might include

  • travel expenses whilst your car is off the road.

  • compensation for injuries and loss of earnings.

  • your policy excess.

Legal expenses insurance covers

  • up to £100,000 cover for legal fees to help cover uninsured losses.

  • prosecution defence cover, if you need to defend your rights in court over an alleged motoring offence.

  • contact disputes cover, if you need to take action against another party for a breach of contract of the sale, purchase or servicing of your car.

  • 24 hour helpline for advice on any private legal matter. Like disputes with your employer or a neighbour, and consumer contract disputes.

  • you and any named drivers on your car insurance policy.

Legal expenses insurance is underwritten by RAC Insurance Limited.

Carpenters Limited manage all legal expense claims. They will only accept a claim if there is a reasonable chance of making a recovery.

We will not cover any legal costs unless we have agreed to them in advance.
