View funeral notices and leave a tribute or donation in their memory
On the day of a cremation, our team will bring your loved one's coffin to the chosen crematorium — serving families from Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, and across West Lancashire — and we will be with you from arrival to the moment you leave. The service itself typically lasts around 20 to 30 minutes and can include music, readings, and tributes that reflect who your loved one was. Afterwards, we will explain the options for the ashes and help you decide what feels most fitting for your family.
There are two free car parks close to our funeral home on Smithy Walk, so families travelling in from Ormskirk, Burscough, or further afield should have no difficulty finding a space. Our arrangement room is on the ground floor and we have an accessible toilet on site, making visits as straightforward as possible for those with mobility needs. If you are unsure of the exact location, please call us and we will be happy to guide you.
We have supported Catholic and Church of England families throughout West Lancashire since 2005, and our team understands the traditions, prayers, and rituals that matter most to your community. Whether you would like a Requiem Mass at a local Catholic church or a traditional Anglican service, we will liaise directly with the clergy on your behalf. Our role is to make sure the service truly honours your loved one's faith.
Yes, our team at Cookson Tyrer on Smithy Walk serves families across Burscough and the wider West Lancashire area, including Ormskirk, Tarleton, Skelmersdale, and as far as Southport and Charnock Richard. Wherever you are in the region, we can come to you and guide your family through every step at whatever pace feels right.
Please do not hesitate to call us at any time, day or night — our team is available around the clock to bring your loved one into our care from anywhere across West Lancashire, including Tarleton, Southport, and St Helens. We will handle the collection with complete dignity and take the immediate weight off your shoulders, so you can focus on your family in those first difficult hours.
