What to expect when arranging a funeral

Arrange an appointment
Your funeral director will make an appointment with you to start the funeral arrangements. This appointment can take place over the phone or at one of our funeral homes, whichever is easiest for you.

We’ll listen to you
At your appointment we’ll listen to you to find out about the person who has died; what they were like, what their interests were, and any funeral wishes they had. You can also tell us any ideas you have for the funeral.
We’ll ask questions to make sure we arrange a funeral most fitting for the person who has died. We’ll then guide you through the decisions you’ll need to make, showing you where you can make personal touches along the way.

We’ll provide a cost
We're open about our prices and any third party costs, and when we arrange the funeral with you we’ll give you an estimate. We’ll always be honest with you about affordability, your financial options, the different ways to pay and when payments need to be made.

We’ll be here for you all the way through
Our team will support you from the moment you get in touch with us, through the funeral arrangements, on the day and even after the funeral. Legal experts from Co-op Legal Services can also help to check if you need probate. If you have any questions, just ask and we’re here to help. We're in the heart of your communities, towns and cities from Bristol to Cardiff, Sheffield to Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
Organise the day of the funeral
There are some decisions you need to make for the day of the funeral. Like choosing a coffin, hearse, music or flowers. We’ve got everything you need to make the day just right.
Some common questions
Choosing between burial or cremation is one of the first things you'll need to decide when arranging a funeral. The person who has died may have told you what they want, but if they didn’t, we can help you make the right choice for them.
Our Co-op funeral directors help you with every part of the funeral arrangement process. From helping with what to do when someone dies, guiding you through the choices and decisions you’ll need to make, to being there to support you on the day of the funeral. We’re here to support you after the funeral, too.
