If someone has died, we can help you.

All Co-op funerals include:

    • us bringing the person who has died into our care and caring for them until the day of the funeral
    • essential care and preparation of the person who has died
    • help completing all necessary paperwork and liaising with third parties on your behalf
    • support, advice and guidance from our team of experienced professionals
    • a British Sign Language interpreter, if you need one

The funeral service
Your choice of venues for both the service and the committal - these can be at different locations if you wish
A service at one location only. This could be at the crematorium, graveside or one of our funeral service venues.
No service - you can choose to celebrate the person’s life at a time and place that’s best for you

The cortege route
We’ll take a route of your choice to pass any special places
We’ll travel directly to the crematorium or burial ground, within 20 miles of the arranging funeral home and meet you there
There is no cortege. The burial ground which must be within 20 miles of the arranging funeral home.
Personalising the funeral
You’re able to personalise all aspects of the funeral and we’ll fully support you in making individual choices for a unique ceremony. We’ll arrange all additional items on your behalf such as flowers and stationery.
There are some restrictions. We’re unable to arrange additional choices for you, such as flowers and stationery. However it does give you the flexibility and freedom to organise these services yourself, if you’d like to include them for the funeral.

If you can’t decide which funeral suits your needs, or you’d simply prefer to speak to someone, find your local funeral director. Our experienced colleagues will listen to make sure the choices you make are the ones right for you and your family.

What to expect when arranging a funeral

The arrangement appointment

After you’ve been in touch because someone has died, your funeral director will make an appointment with you to start the funeral arrangements. This appointment can be on the phone or in the funeral home, whichever is easiest for you.

If you need a British Sign Language interpreter, let your funeral arranger know before the arrangement meeting.

We’ll listen to you 

Our colleagues want to help you arrange a funeral that feels right. They’ll ask you about the person who died and you can tell us any ideas you have for the funeral. You only have to talk about them if you feel comfortable, we’ll be guided by you.

We’ll then talk you through some decisions you’ll need to make, help with any paperwork and let you know if there’s anything else you need to do.

We’ll be clear about all the costs

We will always be open and clear about our prices and any third party costs. Once you’ve made some decisions about the funeral you’ll be given an estimate. We’ll talk you through your financial options, different ways to pay and when payments need to be made.

You’ll be asked to pay a 50% deposit within 48 hours of the arrangement meeting. Direct cremations must be paid in full.

Our team will support you from the moment you get in touch with us, through all the arrangements, the day of the funeral and even afterwards.
