Yes, our team at James Street regularly supports families from Newmarket, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds, and the wider Cambridge area, so wherever you are, we can be with you when you need us most. We understand that at such a difficult time, the last thing you want to worry about is distance, and our team will come to you. Please do get in touch and we will talk you through everything at your own pace.
Our team on James Street has longstanding relationships with the Muslim, Buddhist, and Roman Catholic communities across Cambridge, including families from the Mill Road area, where so many of these communities are rooted. We understand that the rituals, timings, and wishes specific to your faith matter deeply, and we will work respectfully around them. Whatever traditions are important to your family, we will listen carefully and make sure the funeral reflects them.
We are here around the clock, so you can call us at any time, day or night, and someone from our team will answer and help you. One of the most immediate things we can do is come and bring your loved one into our care, whether they have died at home, in a hospital like Addenbrooke's, or in a care setting. From that first call, we will gently walk you through the practical steps - including the paperwork and who needs to be notified - so nothing feels overwhelming.
We work with Cambridge Crematorium, West Suffolk Crematorium, and Cam Valley Crematorium, and we will help you choose whichever feels right for your family. On the day, our team will guide you through every moment - from the arrival of the procession to the committal - so you never feel uncertain about what comes next. We take care of all the coordination with the crematorium so your family can focus entirely on being together and saying a proper goodbye.
Yes, we have a chapel of rest at our James Street funeral home, giving you a quiet, private space to spend time with your loved one before the day of the funeral. Our arrangement room is on the ground floor and the building is fully wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet available, so the space is comfortable for everyone in your family. There is a nearby paid car park, and if you are travelling from across Cambridge or from further afield such as Bury St Edmunds, our team can give you directions when you call.
