Co-op Funeralcare, Dalkeith
172 High Street, Dalkeith, EH22 1AY
We're proud to have served our community in Dalkeith since 2016. In that time, our funeral home has helped countless families, offering the practical guidance and advice they need to arrange a fitting send off for a loved one. Whether you live in Dalkeith or surrounding areas like Penicuik, Bonnyrigg or Loanhead, no one knows the area and its people better than our team.
Our strong relationships with local churches and crematoriums like St John's and Newton, Rosewell Parish Church and St Matthew's mean we can help you plan the kind of funeral that feels right for you. It could be religious, non-religious, a celebration or something more traditional, we will be guided by you and together we will make it happen.
A funeral arrangement meeting with us is a conversation over a cup of tea as we decide and arrange things together. When you need us, call us or come and see us on High Street.

Absolutely — we're experienced in arranging funerals that reflect what truly matters to each individual family, whether that means a secular celebration of life, a traditional church service at somewhere like Rosewell Parish Church, or a ceremony that weaves in your own cultural or family traditions. Our team will listen carefully and build a service around your loved one's life and your family's wishes, with no expectation that it should follow any particular format.
You can call us at any time, day or night, and one of our team will be there to answer — you don't need to have anything figured out before you pick up the phone. We can arrange for your mother to be brought into our care from wherever she has died, and from there we'll talk you gently through the paperwork and next steps, including registering the death with the local registrar, at a pace that suits your family in Dalkeith or the surrounding area.
Our funeral home on High Street has street parking nearby, and there is restricted parking directly outside that allows up to one hour free, which is usually enough time for an arrangement meeting. The building is fully wheelchair accessible with a ground-floor arrangement room and an accessible toilet, so we can accommodate everyone in your family comfortably when you come to see us.
Yes, our team covers a wide area including Penicuik, Bonnyrigg, Loanhead, and the surrounding communities, so distance is never a barrier to us caring for your family. From our funeral home on High Street in Dalkeith, we can arrange collection and support wherever you need us, guiding you through every step at your own pace.
We work with Mortonhall, East Lothian, and Seafield crematoriums, and we'll help you choose whichever feels right for your family. On the day, our team will accompany your loved one to the crematorium and ensure everything runs with care and dignity, whether you're planning a short, intimate gathering or a larger service with family and friends travelling from across the area around Dalkeith.
