We're experienced in arranging all kinds of services, whether that's a traditional religious ceremony, a secular celebration of life, or something in between. We have strong relationships with local venues including the historic Duddingston Kirk and St John's in Portobello, and we'll work with you to find the setting and tone that truly reflects the person who died.
There is free street parking directly alongside our funeral home on Piersfield Terrace, so there's no need to worry about finding a space when you visit us. Our premises are fully wheelchair accessible, with a ground-floor arrangement room, wheelchair access throughout, and an accessible toilet — we want every family member, including those with mobility needs, to feel comfortable and unhurried when they come to make arrangements.
Yes, our team at McKenzie & Millar on Piersfield Terrace regularly supports families across Portobello and the surrounding communities, including Piershill, Craigentinny, Magdalene, and Marionville. Wherever you are in these neighbourhoods, we can come to you and guide your family through every step at whatever pace feels right.
You can call us at any time, day or night, and we'll talk you through everything calmly and without pressure — there's no need to have any paperwork ready before you pick up the phone. Our team can arrange collection from home, a hospital, or a care facility, and once your loved one is in our care at Piersfield Terrace, we'll take the time to explain the next steps, including registering the death, at a pace that suits your family.
We work with three crematoriums — Seafield, Warriston, and East Lothian — and we'll help you choose whichever feels most fitting for your family's wishes and circumstances. On the day itself, our team accompanies the coffin and ensures everything runs with care and dignity, from the moment we leave Piersfield Terrace to the final farewell at the crematorium chapel.
