We cover Sturmer and the surrounding villages without any difficulty, and our team on High Street is well placed to reach you quickly when you need us. As well as Sturmer, we regularly support families across Haverhill, Birdbrook, Saffron Walden, Newmarket, and further afield into Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge. Wherever you are in the area, we will come to you.
On the day of a cremation, our team will collect your loved one from wherever they are resting and bring them to the crematorium at the arranged time, which is typically a slot of around 30 to 45 minutes. You and your family will have the opportunity to gather, hear music or readings you have chosen, and say goodbye in a way that feels right, whether that is a simple, quiet farewell or a more structured service. Afterwards, the cremated remains can be returned to you, scattered at a meaningful place such as somewhere in the Cam Valley, or kept in a memorial urn — we will guide you through every option.
Our team at the Haverhill funeral home has experience supporting families from African, Afro-Caribbean, Hindu, Catholic, and Travelling community backgrounds, and we understand how important it is that a funeral truly reflects who your loved one was. We will sit with you and listen carefully to the traditions, rituals, and wishes that matter to your family, and then make the practical arrangements around those. Whether that means particular music, specific clothing, extended viewing time in our chapel of rest, or liaising with a faith leader, we are here to make it happen.
You can call us at any time, day or night, and we will answer — there is no need to wait until morning or until you feel ready, because we are here whenever you need us. Our team can arrange to collect your loved one from a home address, a hospital, or a care facility in or around Haverhill, and we will take things at whatever pace feels right for your family. Once your loved one is in our care, we will gently talk you through the paperwork and the next steps, so nothing feels overwhelming.
There is accessible parking directly outside our funeral home on High Street, and a 24-hour pay and display car park on Swan Lane a short distance away if you need additional space. Our building is fully wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet, so every member of your family can be with you during an arrangement meeting. We have a ground floor arrangement room that comfortably accommodates larger family groups — our bigger room can seat up to six people — so nobody has to wait outside during those important conversations.
