Absolutely — many families today prefer a secular or humanist celebration that focuses on a life lived rather than a religious framework, and we are experienced in arranging exactly that. Our team at the Hitchin funeral home can help you find a civil celebrant who will work with you to create something personal and meaningful. Whether you have a favourite local venue in mind or would like our guidance, we will make sure the service feels true to your loved one.
Our team on Arlesey Road is available to take your call at any time, day or night, and we can come to bring your loved one into our care whenever you are ready — there is no pressure to act before you feel able. We will talk you through the paperwork that follows a death, including registering with the North Hertfordshire register office, so you are never left wondering what to do next. You do not need to have any decisions made before you contact us; just reaching out is enough.
Yes, our team on Arlesey Road cares for families across Letchworth, Stevenage, North Hertfordshire and the surrounding villages, so wherever you are in the area we can be there for you. We also work closely with Harwood Park, which many North Hertfordshire families choose for cremation services. Distance is never a barrier to the care and support your family deserves.
On the day, our team will bring your loved one into the venue in good time before the service begins, and we will guide your family through every moment so nothing feels uncertain or rushed. Most cremation services last around 30 to 45 minutes, during which you might choose music, readings, or a tribute that reflects who your loved one was. For families in Hitchin and the wider North Hertfordshire area, we can talk you through all the options when we meet in our arrangement room on Arlesey Road.
We have four on-site parking spaces directly at the funeral home on Arlesey Road, which means your family can arrive without worrying about finding a space nearby. It is worth knowing that the building sits back from the road and can be easy to miss, so look carefully as you approach from the Arlesey Road direction and do not hesitate to call us if you need help finding us. Our arrangement room is on the ground floor, making it straightforward for anyone who finds steps difficult, and an accessible toilet is also available.
