Our funeral home on Hartley Street is fully accessible at ground level, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a ground-floor arrangement room, and an accessible toilet, so every member of your family can be comfortable during what is already a difficult time. We have six on-site parking spaces and free parking is also available nearby, which makes the visit a little easier for families travelling from places like Wath-upon-Dearne or Goldthorpe. If you have any specific access needs, please let us know in advance and we will make sure everything is arranged before you arrive.
You can call us at any time, day or night, and our team will arrange to bring the person who died into our care at our Hartley Street funeral home in Mexborough. There is no need to have paperwork in order before you contact us — we will explain everything that needs to happen, including registering the death, at a pace that suits your family. Once your loved one is with us, they will rest in our chapel of rest, and there is no pressure to make any further decisions until you feel ready.
We regularly arrange funerals at St Margaret's in Swinton as well as at St John's and English Martyrs here in Mexborough, so your family is not limited to a single venue. If the person who died had a connection to a particular church or community, we will do our best to arrange the service there. Our team is also happy to help with non-religious ceremonies at Mexborough Cemetery Chapel or other suitable local venues.
A cremation service typically begins with a procession into the crematorium, where your family and guests gather for a ceremony that can last around 20 to 30 minutes, though this varies depending on the crematorium and the type of service you choose. Our team works with you beforehand to shape the service — music, readings, and whether you would like a religious setting such as English Martyrs in Mexborough or a non-religious format — so the day truly reflects the person who died. Afterwards, we will explain your options for the ashes and support you in deciding what feels right for your family.
Yes, our team on Hartley Street serves families across Conisbrough, Denaby, Wath-upon-Dearne, Bolton-upon-Dearne, Goldthorpe, and further afield including Rotherham and Barnsley. Whether you are local to Mexborough or a little further out, we will come to you and guide your family through every step. Please do get in touch and we can talk through how we can help.
