James Summers Funeralcare, Penarth
Lavernock Court Funeral Home, Lavernock Road, Penarth, CF64 5UP
We're proud to have served our community in Penarth since the 1990s. In that time, our funeral home has helped countless families, offering the practical guidance and advice they need to arrange a fitting send off for a loved one. Whether you live in Penarth or surrounding areas like Dinas Powys, Grangetown or Sully, no one knows the area and its people better than our team.
The first thing we'll do at the arrangement meeting is listen to you. And whatever your religion, culture or heritage, we can help you arrange the right kind of funeral. We work with all the local places of worship and crematoriums, including All Saint's, St Josephs, Penarth Methodist Church and Cardiff, Glamorgan and Thornhill Crematoriums. So whatever type of funeral you need to arrange, we can help you.
A funeral arrangement meeting with us is a conversation over a cup of tea as we decide and arrange things together. When you need us, call us or come and see us on Lavernock Road.

We arrange services at both Thornhill Crematorium and Cardiff and Glamorgan Crematorium, depending on what works best for your family. On the day, we'll coordinate timings, accompany the cortège, and make sure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on being with loved ones. Our team will talk you through what to expect at whichever crematorium you choose, including how long the service lasts and any options for music or readings.
Absolutely, we arrange services to reflect whatever feels right for your family. We work closely with All Saints Church, St Joseph's RC Church and Penarth Methodist Church for traditional religious services, and we're equally experienced in arranging humanist, civil or personal ceremonies. Many families also choose to hold a service in our own chapel here on Lavernock Road, which offers a peaceful, flexible space whatever your beliefs.
Yes, absolutely. Our James Summers funeral home on Lavernock Road serves families right across Penarth, Dinas Powys, Sully and Grangetown. We've been part of this community since the 1990s and we know the local area well, including the crematoriums at Cardiff and Glamorgan and Thornhill, plus churches like All Saints and St Joseph's RC Church. Distance is never a barrier when it comes to looking after families who need us.
Yes, we have our own service chapel right here at our Lavernock Road funeral home, which gives families a welcoming alternative to a church or crematorium. It's a peaceful space where you can hold a service on your terms, and it's especially helpful if you want something more intimate or flexible. We also have a private chapel of rest where you can spend time with your loved one before the funeral, in a calm and comfortable setting that feels much more personal than a hospital room.
Yes, our phones are answered day and night, every day of the year. We understand that death doesn't keep office hours, so whether it's three in the afternoon or three in the morning, you'll speak to a real person from our team who can help. We can come out to collect your loved one from hospital, a care home or their own home whenever you need us, and we'll talk you through what happens next in a way that makes sense for your family.
