We're here for families across the wider area, including Wynyard, Fishburn, Thorpe Thewles, Stockton, and throughout Wear Valley and Durham. Wherever you are, our team on Rectory Row can come to you, and we'll handle all the arrangements from there. Distance is never a barrier to the care your family deserves.
When you're ready to call us, our team is available around the clock, and one of the first things we'll do is arrange for your loved one to be brought into our care from wherever they have died, whether that's a home in Sedgefield, a hospital, or a care setting further afield. From that point we'll guide you gently through the paperwork and registration process, so nothing feels overwhelming. You don't need to have any decisions made before you call — we're here to help you find your way through, one step at a time.
We work closely with local churches and venues, including Sedgefield Methodist and St Catherine's Church, to arrange services that reflect your family's faith and wishes. Whether you'd like a traditional religious ceremony, a secular humanist service, or something that blends both, our team will liaise directly with the officiant and venue on your behalf. We're experienced in tailoring funerals to honour different beliefs and traditions with the respect they deserve.
We have two on-site parking spaces at our funeral home on Rectory Row, and free street parking is also available opposite us and around the village, so finding somewhere to stop shouldn't add to your stress on the day. The arrangement room is on the ground floor and we have full wheelchair access throughout, as well as an accessible toilet. If you have any specific access needs, please do let us know when you call and we'll make sure everything is ready for your visit.
On the day of a cremation service, our team will bring your loved one's coffin to the chosen venue — such as St Edmund's Church in Sedgefield — before accompanying the procession to the crematorium. The service itself typically lasts around 30 to 45 minutes and can include music, readings, or tributes that reflect who your loved one was. We'll walk you through every moment beforehand so your family knows exactly what to expect and can simply focus on saying goodbye.
