Absolutely — we arrange all kinds of services, whether religious, non-religious, or a blend of both, and we will always follow your family's wishes rather than any set template. St Nicholas' Church is available for those who want a traditional church service, but we can equally help you plan a completely secular ceremony that reflects who your loved one truly was. Our two arrangement rooms give us the space to sit down with your family quietly and work out exactly what feels right.
When someone dies, our team is available to help you at any hour, and the most important thing to know is that you do not have to do anything alone. You can call us whenever you are ready and we will arrange for your loved one to be brought into our care, taking that immediate burden off your shoulders while you gather family around you. From there, we will guide you gently through the paperwork and legal requirements, including registering the death, at a pace that suits you.
We have ten on-site parking spaces, and there is also a shared car park next door through the Co-op Food store which provides additional space if you need it. Please be aware that our arrangement rooms are not on the ground floor and we do not currently have wheelchair access or an accessible toilet on the premises, so if mobility is a concern for any member of your family, please do let us know when you call so we can do everything possible to make your visit as comfortable as it can be.
Yes, our team serves families across Foulness Island and the surrounding villages, including Barling, Little Wakering, and Great Wakering itself. We understand that reaching families in more remote areas takes extra care and planning, and we are here to make sure distance is never a barrier when you need us most. Please call us and we will talk through how we can support you from the very first moment.
On the day of a cremation, our team will lead the funeral cortège from the point of collection and accompany your family to the crematorium, ensuring everything runs to time and that you can focus entirely on saying goodbye. Before the service, many families choose to hold a gathering or reading at St Nicholas' Church in Great Wakering, which can form a meaningful part of the day. We will walk you through every stage in advance so that nothing on the day comes as a surprise, and our team remains with you throughout.
