We work with Sunderland Crematorium, South Shields Crematorium, Durham Crematorium and Birtley Crematorium, depending on what works best for your family's location and preferences. Each crematorium has different service times and facilities, and we'll talk you through the options so you can choose the right setting. On the day, we coordinate all the timings and guide your family through what happens at each stage, so you can focus on being together and saying your goodbyes.
We arrange all types of funeral services, whether you'd like a traditional religious ceremony at a church like St Mary's, Sunderland Minster or St Aidan's, or a non-religious celebration at one of the local crematoriums. Our team takes time to understand what would feel right for your loved one and your family, whether that's hymns and readings, personal tributes and music, or a quiet, simple farewell. We've been doing this since 1980, so we're experienced in creating services that truly reflect the person you're honouring.
We're based on Chester Road in Sunderland and serve families across the city and surrounding communities including Seaham, Murton and Shiney Row. Our team has been caring for families in these areas since 1980, so we know the local churches, crematoriums and communities well. Whether your family lives nearby or you're arranging a funeral from further away, we're here to help you create a meaningful service in the place that matters most to you.
The very first step is to give us a call at our Chester Road branch, and we'll take things from there with you gently and at your pace. We'll arrange to bring your loved one into our care and to our chapel of rest, then sit down with you to talk through what you'd like for the funeral. Many families we meet in Sunderland, Seaham and Murton are arranging a funeral for the first time, so we explain everything clearly and handle the paperwork, registrations and all the practical details so you don't have to navigate it alone.
Yes, we have a peaceful chapel of rest here at our Sunderland branch where you're welcome to spend time with your loved one before the funeral. Families often find these visits comforting, whether it's sitting quietly for a few moments or bringing children or other relatives to say goodbye in their own way. Our team will arrange visiting times that suit you, and we're always nearby if you need anything. We've been described as patient, kind and compassionate, and that care extends to making sure you feel supported during every visit.
