We have five on-site parking spaces at Well Close Square, including a designated disabled parking bay, so families arriving by car should find it straightforward to park close to the door. Our arrangement room is on the ground floor, and the building is fully wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet available. If you are coming from further afield — from Sleights or along the coast road from Sandsend, for example — there is also a paid car park nearby and some street parking for additional guests.
Our care team is available around the clock, every day of the year, so please do call us at any hour — you will speak to a real person who can help, not an answering machine. When you are ready, we will come to wherever your loved one has died, whether that is a home in Whitby, a care setting in Ruswarp, or a hospital further afield, and bring them into our care with complete dignity. There is no need to have everything decided before you call; the only first step is reaching out, and we will take things from there together.
Absolutely — we arrange services of all kinds, from traditional church funerals to entirely secular celebrations of life, and everything in between. Many families we support across Whitby and the surrounding area prefer a non-religious ceremony led by an independent celebrant, and we can recommend experienced local celebrants who will take time to understand the person who died. Whether you have clear wishes or are unsure where to begin, our team at Well Close Square will guide you through the choices.
Yes, our team at Well Close Square regularly supports families from Robin Hood's Bay and the surrounding coastal villages, including Sandsend, Hawsker, and Ruswarp. Distance is never a barrier to the care we provide, and we will come to you wherever you are in the area. Please do get in touch and we will talk you through everything at whatever pace feels right for your family.
On the day of a cremation, our team will collect your loved one and lead the cortège to the crematorium, where a service — as brief or as meaningful as you wish — takes place in the chapel before the committal. You can choose music, readings, or a celebrant or officiant to personalise the occasion, and the whole service typically lasts around 30 to 45 minutes. We work with families across Whitby and as far as Sleights and Scarborough Woodlands to make sure every detail reflects the person who has died.
