Co-op Funeralcare, Ystalyfera
61 Commercial Street, Ystalyfera, SA9 2HU
We're proud to have served our community in Ystalyfera since 1960. In that time, our funeral home has helped countless families, offering the practical guidance and advice they need to arrange a fitting send off for a loved one. Whether you live in Ystalyfera or surrounding areas like Ystradgynlais, Pontardawe, Cwmtwrch or Abercrave, no one knows the area and its people better than our team.
When you begin funeral arrangements with our team, the first thing we do is listen to you. That way we can arrange the funeral that is right for everyone. Whatever their religion or beliefs, if you're looking for something traditional or something more personal and creative, it's okay. We can make it happen, together.
If you need us, call or visit us in person on Commercial Street. We'll be here to welcome you from the first conversation and take the time to understand your unique needs and support you through every step.

We arrange funerals of all kinds at Wynford Thomas and Son, from traditional religious services to entirely non-religious celebrations of life, and everything in between. Whether your family would like a humanist service, a simple, personal gathering, or something that blends different traditions, our team will work with you to make sure it reflects the person who died, right down to the music, readings, and words spoken.
We work with four crematoriums, Swansea, Margam, Llanelli, and Llwydcoed, and our team will help you choose the one that feels right for your family, whether that is based on location, capacity, or personal preference. On the day, we lead the procession from the agreed meeting point to the crematorium, guiding everything so your family can focus entirely on being together and saying a proper goodbye.
Yes, our team at Wynford Thomas and Son covers Cwmtwrch and the surrounding communities, including Ystradgynlais, Abercrave, Cwmllynfell, Pontardawe, and Ystalyfera. Wherever you are in the upper Swansea Valley, we are here to support your family from the very first call through to the day of the funeral.
You can call us at any time, day or night, and we will talk you through everything calmly and without any pressure. Our team can come to bring your loved one into our care from their home or from a hospital serving communities like Ystradgynlais, and we will also help you understand the paperwork and registration process so nothing feels overwhelming in those early hours.
Street parking is available nearby, and the closest spaces are on the bridge opposite us or on the road behind the funeral home, so your family should not have to walk far. Our building is fully wheelchair accessible, with a ground floor arrangement room and an accessible toilet, meaning everyone in your family can be part of the conversation when we sit down together in our arrangement room, which comfortably seats up to five people.
