What is a cremation funeral plan?

With a cremation plan you can plan and pay for your funeral in advance. It allows you to protect your family from unexpected funeral costs and makes sure your funeral wishes are known.

Why consider a cremation plan?

Cremation plans can be a cheaper alternative to burial plans, this is because you won't need to buy a grave plot, which can be expensive in certain parts of the country.

What is included in my pre-paid cremation plan?

We have 5 plans with a combination of services, so you can choose the one that works for you. You can see the differences between each cremation plan below.

Our range of pre-paid funeral plans
You can pay in full, spread the cost over 6 or 12 months, pay monthly instalments over 2–25 years or 2-5 for a Direct Cremation Plan. There is an additional charge when choosing instalments and age restrictions apply. See our T&Cs for more information.

Can I change my Co-op burial plan to a cremation plan?

Yes, if you’ve previously bought a burial plan and wish to change to cremation, or change your cremation plan to a burial plan, you can do. If there are any changes in costs, we’ll let you know what these are when you contact us. Call us on 0800 289 120 to update your plan and receive new updated plan documents in the post.

How much does a Co-op cremation plan cost?

Co-op cremation plan costs differ depending on what services you’d like included in your plan. Prices start from £1,700 for our Direct Cremation Plan, and up to £4,210 for our Gold Cremation Plan. You can choose to pay in full, spread the cost over 6–12 months with no extra costs, pay over 2–25 years or 2-5 years for a Direct Cremation Plan.

What are the benefits of pre-paying for my cremation?

If paying in monthly instalments and you die after 12 months, as long as your payments are up to date, we won’t collect the outstanding balance on your plan and our funeral director can deliver your plan.

Unlike most funeral plan providers, at the Co-op we both plan and carry out your funeral, meaning you can be sure that every detail in your plan will be as you wanted. You can also be confident that a Co-op funeral director will be conducting your funeral with all the care and high standards you would expect from us. Other plan providers may ask you to nominate an independent funeral director, but they can’t guarantee that they will be the ones carrying out the funeral.

More about funeral plan costs

Spread the cost over 6 or 12 months with no additional costs, pay monthly payments over 2–25 years or 2-5 years for a Direct Cremation Plan. If you decide on monthly payments, a minimum deposit of £99 is required when you buy your plan. You can pay a bigger deposit if you’d like to lower the monthly costs.

^If you choose to make monthly payments over 2 to 25 years, or 2 to 5 years for a Direct Cremation Plan, and die as a result of an accident within the first 12 months of your plan, we will deliver all services provided in your plan. If you die after 12 months, we will deliver all the services provided in your plan, even if you’ve not finished paying for it. All previous payments must be paid up to date and your funeral must be carried out by one of our approved funeral directors. See our terms and conditions.
