Amazing Annabel is Nominated Again
Congratulations are in order for the inspirational Annabel Davies, who for the second year running has been nominated for Best Bereavement Worker in the UK.
The Butterfly Awards - Best Bereavement Worker UK
Annabel was determined to help parents going through the loss of a child after suffering a pregnancy loss herself. Going back to work as a Funeral Director after her loss was extremely difficult, but Annabel found strength in knowing the difference she could make to other bereaved parents.
She threw herself into campaigning for local councils to offer free cremation services for infants, spent time in hospitals giving talks to midwives to improve the care and guidance given to bereaved families, and even assisted setting up a support group for all those affected by the loss of a child.
Annabel is grateful to have received two cuddle cots at her funeral home. Cuddle cots are special Moses baskets with a cold unit attached, allowing grieving families that extra time with their baby. She often lends the cots out to other funeral directors, families, and hospitals when they are requested, and personally offers to set the cots up each time.
Annabel also works closely with local neonatal units, collecting donations of knitted clothing to help keep poorly babies cosy while they get better. She has made donations to 7 hospitals and even a neonatal ward in Uganda.
The Butterfly Awards, now in its sixth year, recognises professionals working across a broad range of industries for the work they do supporting families through the loss of their baby. The awards also recognise families for the strength and courage they show during a bereavement.
Talking about her nomination, Annabel commented, “I am truly touched and honoured to have been nominated for such a meaningful award again. As Funeral Directors, we’re here to support people who are going through a heart-breaking time. The Butterfly Awards are an important step to make people aware of the support available for people going through the loss of a child.”
Good luck to Annabel and everybody nominated for an award.
