George Pettit Funeralcare
12 Lower Bridge Street, Chester, CH1 1RS
Our funeral home in Chester has been serving the local community since 1990. During that time, we've come to know and love our local area well. We cover areas throughout Chester, including Handbridge, Westminster Park and Saltney. We're here to give you a friendly, reliable and sensitively planned funeral service at your time of need.
We will be led by you in making the funeral arrangements. We will listen as you tell us about who they were and what feels right for them. Then we will use our established relationships with local places of worship and crematoriums in the area, like St Mary's Handbridge, St Francis, Holy Trinity Blacon to create the funeral that feels right.
If you need us, get in touch. You'll be greeted with a warm welcome, a friendly face and the promise of a cup of tea when we meet at our comfortable funeral home on Lower Bridge Street.

We're proud to serve families across Saltney, Chester, Handbridge, and Westminster Park from our funeral home on Lower Bridge Street. Whether you're in the heart of the city or a little further out, our team will come to you and guide you through every step of the arrangements. Distance is never a barrier when your family needs us.
When you're ready to call us, our team at George Pettit on Lower Bridge Street is available to help you, and we'll take care of bringing your loved one into our care as gently and respectfully as possible. We can talk you through the paperwork, including registering the death and obtaining the necessary certificates, at whatever pace feels right for you. You don't need to have any of the answers straight away; we'll walk alongside your family and make sure nothing important is missed.
We have long-standing relationships with a number of churches in the area, including St Mary's Handbridge, St Francis, Holy Trinity Blacon, and St Werburgh, and we're experienced in working alongside clergy to arrange meaningful, faith-led services. We're equally at home organising secular or humanist funerals for families who prefer a non-religious farewell. Whatever your wishes, we'll work to make sure the service reflects the person who died and the values they held.
Our Chester funeral home has a dedicated chapel of rest where you and your family are welcome to visit and spend quiet, private time with the person who died. We have on-site parking, and our premises are fully wheelchair accessible, so every member of the family can attend without difficulty. Our team will always ensure the chapel is prepared with care and that you feel completely supported during your visit.
We work closely with Chester Crematorium and Flintshire Crematorium, and our team will help you choose whichever feels right for your family. On the day, we take care of all the practical details, the timing, the transportation, and liaising with the crematorium staff, so you can focus entirely on being present with the people you love. Our funeral directors will be with you from the moment you arrive until the service is complete.
